The Federal Trade Commission has created a “one stop” web site to assist victims of identity theft. There’s specific instructions, guides & a support team assisting victims to recover from identity theft.
Here’s where people can report identity theft and start the process: https://www.identitytheft.gov/
Here’s a PDF with helpful information tied to what information has been stolen: https://www.identitytheft.gov/PDFs/Data_Breach.pdf
Here’s a 40 page guide entitled: Identity Theft, A Recovery Plan that you can order for free or print yourself: https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/pdf-0009_identitytheft_a_recovery_plan.pdf
In addition to the above resources, our ITS Information Security and Emerging Technologies Office has created help on several topics relating to fraud/hacking:
If you believe that you are a victim of Identity Theft, ITS highly recommends that you IMMEDIATELY change your campus password at http://myaccount.csusb.edu and at other locations, such as your bank as soon as possbile.
