Configuring eduroam manually

To gain access to the secure campus wireless network, student, faculty or staff member will need to configure their devices to connect to eduroam.

The following provides step-by-step instructions on maually configuring your devices to use eduroam.

If you regularly connect to CSUSB_ACCESS, there may be an easier way to configure your device to connect to eduroam by using QuickConnect. Detailed instructions for QuickConnect can be found here.

 

 

Windows 8.1

To configure a Windows 8.1 workstation to connect to eduroam, please perform the following steps:

  1. At the Windows 8.1 Start page, select the Desktop box
    Windows 8.1 Start page select Desktop
  2. In the Windows 8.1 Networks menu, select eduroam
  3. Once the eduroam network has been selected, check the Connect automatically box, then select Connect
    Windows 8.1 Networks menu select eduroam
  4. At the Username and Password input menu, enter the following:
    Username: CoyoteID@csusb.edu (***NOTE: Please be sure to enter @csusb.edu)
    Password: You CSUSB password
    Enter CSUSB email address and password
  5. At the "Continue connecting?" menu, select Connect
    Select Connect at the Continue connecting menu
  6. Verify that you are connected to the eduroam network by observing the word "Connected" below the "eduroam."

Windows 7

To configure a Windows 7 workstation to connect to eduroam, please perform the following steps:

  1. On the Windows Desktop, select the Wi-Fi network icon in the taskbar to open the list of available Wi-Fi networks
    Windows Desktop click  Wif-Networks icon on the taskbar
  2. Select eduroam
  3. Once the eduroam network has been selected, check the Connect automatically box, then select Connect
    Select eduroam and click Connect
  4. At the Network Authentication window, input the following:
    Username: CoyoteID@csusb.edu (***NOTE: Please be sure to enter @csusb.edu)
    Password: You CSUSB password
    At the network authentication screen,Input your CoyoteID and add @csusb.edu, then input your IDMS password
  5. At the folllowing Windows Security Alert window, click Connect
    At the Windows Security Alert screen click Connect

 

 

Mac OSX

To configure a Mac OSX workstation to connect to eduroam, please perform the following steps:

  1. On the Mac desktop, click the Wi-Fi icon on the Status menu to display the available Wi-Fi networks
    Mac Desktop click Wif-Fi icon on the Status menu
  2. Select the eduroam network
    Select the eduroam network
  3. Choose Automatic mode and insert the following:
    Username: CoyoteID@csusb.edu (***NOTE: Please be sure to enter @csusb.edu)
    Password: You CSUSB password
    Then click Join
    Choose Automatic mode.  For Username, input your CoyoteID and add @csusb.edu.  For password, input your IDMS password
  4. At the "Verify Certificate" window, select Continue
    At the Verify Certificate window, select Continue
  5. At the window stating "You are making changes to your Certificate Trust Settings. Type your password to allow this.", input your computer account password and click Update Settings
    Input your Mac OSX account password, then select Update Settings
  6. Verify that you are now connected to the "eduroam" network in the status menu

Android

To configure an Andriod device to connect to eduroam, please perform the following steps:

  1. At the Wi-Fi screen, tap "eduroam"
    Android Wi-Fi screen tap eduroam
  2. At the eduroam menu, select the following:
    EAP Method: PEAP
    Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAPV2
    CA certificate: Leave Blank
    Identity:
    CoyoteID@csusb.edu(***NOTE: Please be sure to enter @csusb.edu)
    Password: Your CSUSB password
    Then tap Connect
    Identity field input CoyoteID, password field input IDMS password
  3. At the Wi-Fi screen, verify that you are connected to eduroam

iOS

To configure an iOS device to connect to eduroam, please perform the following steps:

  1. Go to Setting --> Wi-Fi on your iOS mobile device
  2. Tap and select eduroam

    Select eduroam network picture
  3. When prompted, enter the following:
    Username: CoyoteID@csusb.edu (***NOTE: Please be sure to enter @csusb.edu)
    Password: You CSUSB password
    Then tap Join
    Login to eduroam picture
  4. You will be prompted to accept the certificate from netauth.csusb.edu
  5. After tapping accept, you will returned to the main Wi-Fi page and there should now be a check mark next to eduroam.

To connect to the campus internet as a guest, please contact the Technology Support Center and be ready to provide your full name and contact phone number and/or email.
